Who says taking 4 kids plus one in tote…errr….uterus, wouldn’t be fun?! We went on our annual Story Land trip a couple of weeks ago and we had SO MUCH FUN! I can’t wait to tell you all about it!
Each year is a little different, as we keep adding to our family and bringing friends with us on our adventures but we always have a good time and make some amazing memories. Going to Story Land is definitely one of the best things to do in New Hampshire!

We arrived around noontime, again. We tried to get there at opening, but so far that has never happened. For this trip, we had 4 adults, 2 two-year-old boys, a 5-year-old boy, an 8-year-old boy, and an almost 12-year-old girl, so going 12:00 – 5:00 pm was definitely more than enough for all of us.
Since most of our children were 5 and younger, we spent the first half-hour in the park at the Grandfather Tree going down the slides. Then we headed to the Little Dreamer’s Play Area which is the perfect way to start the day so the younger kids see what kind of a FUN day they are going to have!
The older kids tried to curb their enthusiasm, and they didn’t run full speed toward their favorite rides. We even got them to partially listen to a Mother Goose story…
(I know one of them looks like he is running away in terror, but he’s not!)
Almost all of the kids went on Alice’s Tea Cup Ride. Everyone except my youngest who looked horrified at the prospect. His cousin-buddy Kanaan couldn’t wait to get on though and that was his first amusement park ride ever. He loved it! It was a great introduction to the day we were going to have.
Immediately after Alice’s Tea Cup Ride, we looked at all the Story Book Animals and then headed straight for the Carousel, knowing the younger kids would love that!
After a fun ride on the Carousel, we ran over to the Buccaneer Pirate Ship to catch the next ride before it left!
ALL the kids (and the adults) love the Buccaneer Pirate Ship ride so that’s one thing we make sure we do every single year!
Before we ate lunch, we rode the Polar Coaster three times. I love that the lines at Story Land are usually so short that we can enjoy a ride a couple of times in a row if we want. The big kids always LOVE the Polar Coaster. Our 5 year old tried it this year and wasn’t thrilled so he went up to the observation deck with his younger brother and cousin-buddy Kanaan.
One thing we made sure we DIDN’T miss this year was the Daniel Tiger Show! My friend’s 2-year-old son is obsessed with Daniel Tiger. He was engaged during the whole show, and he even walked around with the cast members, giving high fives at the end. I would recommend lining up at least 30 minutes before the show because sitting in the front was an amazing experience. He even got to give Katarina Kitty Kat a hug!
After the Daniel Tiger show, we all went on Pharaoh’s Reign Splash Battle. Most of us enjoyed getting wet (the toddlers, not so much). Our youngest stole our daughter’s hat to hide under while his cousin-buddy hugged his mommy for dear life. The 5 year old LOVED squirting the water guns, as did the adults and our oldest boy who had an epic battle with a random stranger that left everyone in the vicinity SOAKED.
Right next to Splash Battle, hidden in the corner and so easy to miss, is the Rap-Tour Safari – a slow tractor ride through a forest of DINOSAURS! The three youngest boys absolutely love dinosaurs and are the perfect age for that ride, so we made sure we didn’t miss it this year!
We got to sit in the “cage” right at the front of the ride so it was really fun for all the kids! The dinosaurs look very life-like but aren’t scary so the two 2-year-olds and my 5-year-old LOVED it. Don’t miss this hidden gem in the park!
Next stop was the Oceans of Fun Sprayground, which the kids enjoyed for almost half an hour. Between me being pregnant and needing to sit down in the shade and rehydrate, plus the other parents with us needing a break, we definitely appreciated the opportunity to relax while the kids stayed in a mostly contained area within our eyesight!
Ignore my youngest’s grumpy face, I swear he loved the water! He just gives me that look every time I tell him to “Say cheese!” because he’s fun like that.
Our next stop was the Eggs-Traordinary Farm Tractors. It’s at the far back end of the park and easy to miss, so be sure to look for it! It’s the perfect ride for babies and toddlers because they can sit on your lap and it goes quite slow. Thanks to Blippi, our boys LOVE tractors so we sang the Blippi Tractor Song to the kids while we rode the tractors. They loved it so much, we rode the tractors 3 times!
After we made the older children go on the tractor ride multiple times with the younger kids, we let them go on their favorite rides! Because they went right before park closing, they got to ride on the Roar-a-Saurus 3 times in a row. No lines, no getting out – it was amazing. I think if they went a fourth time they would have lost their lunch though…
The last ride was one of the children’s favorite: Dr. Geyser’s Remarkable Raft Ride. Our two friends took our older children, while all the younger children played at Dr. Geyserโs Mini Geysers Water Play while I took pictures of them playing in the water…
They had fun playing in the water while I hung out in the shade next to an ugly sign!

It was a great way to cool off at the end of the day and thankfully it was warm enough this visit for the kids to enjoy it before we left the park! It’s our favorite way to end an amazing day at Story Land.

PRO TIP:
Since we usually do the water rides and/or playing in the water at the Geysers before leaving the park, I always pack a few towels and a change of clothes for everyone to get into when we get back to our minivan.
Other Perks About Story Land
I like that parents have the liberty to bring their own food into the park in case their children have food allergies (like ours). It’s a pain to pack a lunch and tote it around though, so if you don’t need to bring food, I definitely recommend eating at the park! There are so many options from burgers and pizza to make your own sundae! You can also get a food pass for the season.
