This summer (which seems like yesterday) we took our third annual trip to Story Land, but this time, we had FOUR kids with us! My youngest was just 2 months old when we made the trip this year. I worried it would be too much too soon, but thankfully it was a breeze. He slept almost the entire time in our Free To Grow Tula.
It has been such a treasure watching the kids grow up and get something new out of Story Land every time we go.
The first time we went was in 2015 and my youngest was barely a year old at the time. Thankfully he was happy to ride on my back in the baby carrier and my two oldest were just 4 and 7 so they were the perfect age to start enjoying the rides and other attractions like Cinderella’s Castle and the Merry Go Round.
Last year, my two oldest were excited to try all of the rides they were too small to go on the year before. They go to enjoy many of the water related rides like Bamboo Chutes and Dr. Geyser’s Remarkable Raft Ride.
This year, we did a little of everything!
First, we visited the little Chapel which the kids were really thrilled about because we didn’t see it during our previous visits. Don’t know how we missed it since it’s right near the beginning of the park.
We visited Heidi’s Cabin up on the hill which the kids said that it reminded them of their grandmother’s house. I didn’t go in with the kids so I have no idea what it looked like inside, but the kids had fun!
After that, we rode on the Cuckoo Clockenspiel which is kind of like the Alice Tea Cup ride we went on last year. The kids loved it! Be sure to watch the video below that my husband took on the ride!
After that, we went straight for the kid’s favorite ride: the Polar Coaster. That is my husband’s and my children’s favorite ride of all. They always go on it three or four times. I love that Story Land’s lines are quick enough to make that possible!
After, we did something new this year: we played in the Loopy Lab! A ball pit filled with interactive fun for all ages. My third child was old enough to enjoy it this year, so we let all 3 kids loose to have fun in there! Even their uncle was laughing and having fun. I stayed outside and nursed the baby so I don’t have any pictures from that, but they all said that was one of their favorite things from this year’s trip!
Every year we’ve been to Story Land, we always go on the Pirate Ship! This time, the kids played in the Pirate Play Area too, which was great for my three year old.
After that, we went to the Los Bravos Silver Mine for a guided tour of the “mines”. My 3 year old was able to participate in this attraction, but it was a little too scary for him because it was dark inside, so be warned that younger kids might not appreciate the tour as much as the older kids will.
Even though Los Bravos wasn’t a hit for my 3 year old, we found something nearby that was perfect for him! The Little Dreamers Play Area was just his size and filled with fun things to do, climb on and experience.
The last things we did was cool down at the Oceans of Fun Sprayground and Dr. Geyser’s Mini Geysers Water Play. This year, I was smart and came prepared with water shoes!!! My two oldest wore their Khombu water shoes from last season.
I didn’t bother bringing swimsuits for the kids; I had them wear athletic gear like Under Armour, Puma, and Nike. That type of clothing dries really fast so swimsuits were not needed. Cooling down, however, was necessary for the hot weather that day!
We went to Story Land during the middle of July, which is their busiest time of year. The lines were not as bad as the year before when we went the day before the 4th of July. It was still fairly crowded though, even for a weekday, which meant standing in lines for the rides. Sunscreen was a must!
Weekends in September is actually a great time to visit Storyland! Shorter lines, smaller crowds and you can also enjoy watching the autumn colors come out in the White Mountain area.
