Hyperpigmentation and dark spots can be frustrating skin concerns that affect people of all ages and skin types. While various topical treatments are available, laser therapy has emerged as a highly effective option for addressing these issues. In this comprehensive guide, we’ll explore the role of laser therapy in treating hyperpigmentation and dark spots, including how it works, its benefits, and what to expect during treatment at a laser skin clinic.

Understanding Hyperpigmentation and Dark Spots

Hyperpigmentation is a common skin condition characterized by the darkening of certain areas of the skin due to an overproduction of melanin. Melanin is the pigment responsible for giving skin its color, and when its production becomes excessive or uneven, it can result in the formation of dark spots or patches.

Types of Hyperpigmentation

  1. Sunspots: Also known as solar lentigines or liver spots, sunspots are flat, brown spots that develop on areas of the skin that have been exposed to the sun. They are caused by prolonged UV exposure, which triggers the overproduction of melanin in certain areas of the skin.
  2. Melasma: Melasma is a common type of hyperpigmentation characterized by brown or gray-brown patches on the face, particularly on the cheeks, forehead, upper lip, and chin.
  3. Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH): PIH occurs as a result of inflammation or injury to the skin, such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, or a cut or scrape. When the skin heals, it may produce excess melanin, leading to the formation of dark spots or patches in the affected area.

How Laser Therapy Works

Offered in an innovative laser skin clinic, laser therapy has emerged as a highly effective treatment option for addressing hyperpigmentation and dark spots. The process involves the use of specialized lasers that emit high-energy light pulses targeted at the melanin deposits in the skin. When these light pulses are absorbed by the melanin, they generate heat, causing the pigment to fragment into smaller particles. Over time, the fragmented melanin is absorbed and eliminated by the body’s natural processes, leading to a gradual reduction in hyperpigmentation and an improvement in skin tone and texture.

Laser therapy for hyperpigmentation is a precise and controlled treatment that selectively targets dark spots while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue. The type of laser used and the specific settings employed will depend on factors such as the type and severity of hyperpigmentation, as well as the patient’s skin type and individual concerns.

Benefits of Laser Therapy for Hyperpigmentation

  • Precision Targeting: Laser therapy allows for precise targeting of dark spots, ensuring effective treatment while minimizing damage to surrounding skin.
  • Customized Treatment: Laser settings can be adjusted to accommodate different types and severities of hyperpigmentation, allowing for personalized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s unique needs.
  • Stimulates Collagen Production: Some laser treatments also stimulate collagen production in the skin, helping to improve overall skin texture and tone while reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Quick and Convenient: Laser treatments for hyperpigmentation are typically quick and convenient, with minimal downtime, making them suitable for individuals with busy lifestyles.

Types of Laser Treatments for Hyperpigmentation

Laser therapy has revolutionized the treatment of hyperpigmentation, offering various options that cater to different skin types and concerns. Here are some of the most commonly used laser treatments for hyperpigmentation:

1. Fractional Laser Therapy

Fractional laser therapy, also known as fractional laser resurfacing, targets small areas of the skin with high-energy laser beams. Unlike traditional laser treatments that affect the entire skin surface, fractional lasers create microscopic treatment zones, leaving the surrounding skin untouched.

This stimulates collagen production and promotes skin renewal, resulting in improved texture and tone. Fractional laser therapy is particularly effective for addressing sun damage, acne scars, and overall skin rejuvenation.

2. Q-Switched Laser Therapy

Q-switched lasers deliver short, intense pulses of light that specifically target melanin deposits in the skin. These lasers are highly effective at breaking down excess melanin without damaging surrounding tissue, making them ideal for treating various types of hyperpigmentation, including sunspots, melasma, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH). Q-switched laser therapy is known for its precision and ability to achieve significant pigment clearance with minimal risk of side effects.

3. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Therapy

Intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy, also referred to as photofacial or photorejuvenation, uses broad-spectrum light to target melanin and hemoglobin in the skin. IPL devices emit multiple wavelengths of light that are absorbed by pigmented cells, causing them to break down and fade over time.

IPL therapy is versatile and can effectively treat a wide range of hyperpigmentation issues, including sunspots, freckles, and uneven skin tone. It is a popular choice for individuals seeking non-invasive and customizable treatment options.

4. Picosecond Laser Therapy

Picosecond lasers deliver ultra-short pulses of light in picoseconds (trillionths of a second), making them significantly faster than traditional lasers. This rapid pulse duration allows picosecond lasers to target melanin particles more efficiently, leading to faster and more effective results with fewer treatment sessions. Picosecond laser therapy is highly effective for treating stubborn pigmentation concerns, such as melasma and resistant sunspots, while minimizing downtime and side effects.

What to Expect During Laser Treatment at a Laser Skin Clinic

During a laser treatment session at a laser skin clinic, the following steps are typically involved:

  1. Consultation: The dermatologist or laser specialist will assess your skin condition, discuss your treatment goals and medical history, and recommend the most suitable laser treatment option for your needs.
  2. Preparation: Before the treatment, the skin will be cleansed and prepared to ensure optimal results and minimize the risk of complications.
  3. Treatment: The laser device will be carefully calibrated and applied to the targeted areas of the skin, delivering precise pulses of light to break down melanin deposits.
  4. Post-Treatment Care: After the treatment, the skin may appear red, swollen, or slightly irritated, but these side effects are usually temporary and subside within a few days. The dermatologist will provide instructions for post-treatment care, including skincare products and sun protection measures.

Laser therapy is a highly effective and versatile option for treating hyperpigmentation and dark spots, offering precision targeting, customizable treatment options, and quick results with minimal downtime. If you’re struggling with hyperpigmentation or dark spots, consider consulting with a qualified dermatologist or laser specialist to explore the potential benefits of laser therapy for your skin.

Having flawless, clear skin is a goal for many people. While genetics play a role in the quality of your skin, there are steps you can take to help achieve a glowing, even complexion. Implementing a smart skincare routine along with healthy lifestyle habits can make a dramatic difference in the appearance of your skin over time. Read on for eight expert tips to help you attain flawless skin.

  1. Cleanse Twice a Day

Cleansing your face morning and night is crucial for removing dirt, oil, and impurities that can clog pores and cause breakouts. Use a gentle cleanser suitable for your skin type and rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. Double cleansing at night with an oil-based cleanser followed by a water-based cleanser can help deeply clean pores.

  1. Exfoliate Regularly

Exfoliating removes dead skin cells that dull the complexion. Use a chemical exfoliant containing alpha hydroxy acids or beta hydroxy acids 2-3 times per week. For physical exfoliation, use a soft washcloth, cotton pad, or scrub with jojoba beads 1-2 times per week. Avoid over-exfoliating, which can cause irritation.

  1. Hydrate with Moisturizer

Hydrating your skin is key for a dewy, flawless look. After cleansing, apply a moisturizer suited to your skin type. Look for ingredients like hyaluronic acid and ceramides that hydrate and strengthen the skin barrier. During winter or in drier climates, opt for a richer moisturizer.

  1. Always Wear SPF

Wearing sunscreen daily is non-negotiable. UV exposure is responsible for up to 90% of visible skin aging signs like fine lines, wrinkles, and dark spots. Choose a broad spectrum SPF 30 or higher and apply liberally 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply every two hours if you are outdoors.

  1. Use Retinoids

Retinoids like tretinoin and retinol increase collagen production and cellular turnover to reduce fine lines, smooth texture, and improve tone and firmness. They may cause initial irritation, so begin slowly (1-2 times per week) and buffer the retinoid with moisturizer if needed.

  1. Try Facial Peels

Facial peels such as Dr Dennis Gross Skincare® peel treatments provide powerful exfoliation to reveal brighter, smoother skin. At-home peels with alpha hydroxy acids like lactic acid or glycolic acid can be used weekly. For deeper exfoliation, you may need to get a professional peel at a dermatologist’s office. Always follow directions to avoid irritation.

  1. Choose Targeted Serums

Serums with active ingredients deliver focused solutions for common skin concerns. Use a vitamin C serum in the morning for antioxidant protection and to fade marks. Try a niacinamide serum to refine pores and improve texture. Apply serums under moisturizer so the ingredients can penetrate effectively.

  1. Drink Plenty of Water

Staying well-hydrated promotes healthier, more supple skin. Aim to drink at least eight glasses of water per day. Eating foods with high water content, like cucumbers, watermelon, and tomatoes, helps boost hydration too. Avoid excess caffeine and alcohol, which can lead to dehydration.

While perfect skin takes time and consistency with your routine, implementing these dermatologist-recommended tips will get you on your way to clear, flawless skin. Developing healthy skincare habits along with reducing environmental skin damage through SPF and antioxidants can enhance your complexion. Be patient and persistent – glowing skin is within your reach!

Did you know that 67% of women over 35 regret not starting a skincare routine sooner in their lives? A well-rounded skincare routine can improve your overall skin’s health by addressing various skin concerns. But fine-tuning the ideal regimen is not as easy as it sounds, and can be a tough nut to crack.

You must know the accurate challenges your skin is facing, your skin type, and how it reacts to different skincare ingredients, and then build a perfect skincare routine: from cleansing to moisturizing.

But the later-on benefits can keep you motivated. A healthy, and glowing texture will make you fall in love with your skin. You must know about cleansing and moisturizing already but they are not mere steps in the skincare. Selecting appropriate products for your skin requires thoughtful consideration. In this blog, we will learn how to build an ideal skincare regimen that you can follow for years to come.

Learn The Basics

Choosing the most suitable product that aligns with your skin type is no less than a hassle. Those ad commercials make you believe that every product is made for you – well, that’s another test. We recommend to consult your dermatologist if you’re unsure about your exact skin type. Ask them to help you in choosing the right ingredients as well.

Then shop! Once you get the good products, is it enough? It never does. You are required to be knowledgeable to layer them in the correct order.

Layering is crucial. Your skin is not a canvas that absorbs just everything and anything. You need to be strategic. Most skin experts believe that thin to thick textures will do the work well. It’s logical though. If you apply the thickest texture first, it will not allow the thin ones to penetrate the skin properly or even entirely.

Moreover, you must keep reminding yourself to always be kind to your skin. Even after consulting your dermatologist and buying the expensive skincare, you just cannot sit back and see the magic rolling. You need to be attentive to keep track of what works for you and what your skin cannot tolerate.

A Step-by-Step Skincare: From Cleansing to Moisturizing

Getting started with your skincare routine seems exciting! And it’s a good thing to be excited about as you are on your journey to healthy skin. But always remember that consistency is the key. Whether you are doing a morning or nighttime skincare regimen, your ultimate objective is to bring out the best complexion of your skin.

Cleansing

Your skin can have oil, dirt, environmental pollutants, and other tiny impurities that need to be washed off before you apply anything else. Cleansing helps prevent dullness and breakouts.

You need to have clean, dirt-free skin to start with your steps. Cleansing does that for you – It’s a fundamental step. Irrespective of your skin type, a mild cleanser is always recommended. Harsh cleansers have cosmetic chemical abrasives that can strip off the essential oils of your skin, and that can worsen the skin condition.

Some people can fall into the trap of this myth that oily skin needs harsh concentrations to be cleaned. A big NO! It’s merely a myth. Treat your skin with love and care.

Rinse your face thoroughly with water. Apply the cleanser evenly across the entire face and neck and massage gently. You can add more water to lather it. Keep doing it for one to two minutes then wash off. Pat it dry with a soft towel and here you’re ready for the second step.

Toning

Your mother might know toners as astringent. They help other upcoming ingredients to be absorbed quickly and effectively into your skin and act as a dose of nutritional supplements at the same time.

From water-based to alcohol-based formulas, you can go for a nourishing or an exfoliating toner depending upon your skin type and concern. A mattifying toner with glycolic acid or salicylic acid works best for acne-prone, oily skin. Avoid the ones with fragrances or alcohol.

If your skin type is dry, look for hyaluronic acid to glycerine to add that extra bit of moisture to your skin’s texture.

Apply the toner right after using the facial cleanser in the morning and nighttime routine. You can pour a small amount of toner onto a cotton pad or into the palm of your hand. Across your face and neck, smoothly swipe the pad. Let it absorb completely before proceeding with other skincare products.

Treating The Major Concern: With Serum

Your skin needs accurate concentrations of the active ingredients to target the concern. Serums have all of that. However, if you are a beginner, begin with the lowest concentration. Almost all skin issues, ranging from wrinkles to hyperpigmentation, can be addressed through serums.

If your skin is currently not facing any issues, you can still incorporate a serum for the antioxidant supply to the skin in order to maintain its glow. It is suggested to keep your skin treated as it may look good but the environmental aggressors are enough to damage it internally. It may later manifest on the outer layers and could suddenly trigger a hypersensitive reaction.

Niacinamide mostly suits all skin types, and treats irritating by reducing inflammation. Moreover, it treats enlarged pores up to a good extent, regulates oil production, and contributes to the skin’s immunity.

People suffering from dehydration or dryness may trust hyaluronic acid. It strengthens the barrier function of the skin to minimize the water loss from the skin.

Wrinkles, sagging skin, and other signs of ageing can be prevented with peptides and retinol as they stimulate collagen and elastin production into your skin and provide anti-ageing benefits.

Dark spots, hyperpigmentation, and dull skin can be sincere skin concerns for a lot of people. They may rely upon vitamin C.

So, it’s highly recommended to consider your specific skin concern and choose the treatment serum accordingly. Consult your doctor to suggest the right concentration as a beginner.

Applying an Eye Cream

Many people even with a strict skincare schedule make the mistake of ignoring the eye area. Your eyes go through a lot from inside to outside. Your sleep cycle, lifestyle, and diet affect the eye area internally whereas the pollutants and long periods of screen time can affect it externally.

It’s highly recommended to apply an eye cream during your skincare routine every night. Be very careful while selecting the cream or a serum considering the delicacy of the eyes and its nearby area. Also, just like the serums, you must start treating your eye area at an early age – maybe in the mid-20s.

Moisturizing

Any skin type deserves to be hydrated and softened from within the deeper layers, and a moisturizer can do the job well. There is a common myth associated with the moisturiser that oily skin doesn’t need it. Let it be a myth only, there is no reality in this saying. Moisturizing your skin is a basic need! Yes, no matter in which category your skin falls in, you always need a moisturizer.

DRSQ Skincare has a celebrated range of face and body moisturizers in Australia targeting a myriad of different skin concerns.

As we move ahead with time, our skin has this tendency to age and loosen its natural moisture. It is absolutely normal but don’t be ignorant. This habit of moisturizing can prevent early-age wrinkles and make the skin look radiant.

Select a moisturizer with ingredients that match your skin needs, such as hyaluronic acid for hydration, ceramides for repairing the skin barrier, or antioxidants for anti-ageing benefits.

Sunscreen

All hard work can go in vain if your skin is not protected with the SPF.  Though this step is a necessity in your skincare routine, you don’t have to apply it during the nighttime. But don’t get fooled by the people who think sunscreen is meant to be applied in the sun only. Even if you are at home or the day is cloudy, the sun is still there.

Use the SPF according to your skin tone and skin type, and stay protected from harmful UV rays. Sun can damage your skin a lot more than you think. It exacerbates the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, pigmentation, and uneven skin tone.

Conclusion

While we think that building the perfect skincare routine is something very achievable, at the same time, it requires a thoughtful approach. Give specific considerations to details including your skin type, concerns, and suitable ingredients.

From cleansing to moisturizing, each step is crucial and equally important as the other one. It is highly advisable to take your dermatologist’s suggestion before jumping into the pool randomly.

Doing it right can open the doors of lots of good and healthy skin benefits, the wrong approach can lead you in trouble.

In a world where skincare routines can be as intricate as solving a Rubik’s Cube, achieving a radiant complexion may seem like an elusive goal. However, with the right guidance and a few expert tips, anyone can unlock the secrets to glowing, luminous skin.

From establishing a consistent skincare regimen to incorporating nourishing ingredients, here’s how to pave the way to a radiant complexion.

Consistency is Key

One of the cardinal rules of skincare is consistency. A haphazard approach to your skincare routine can sabotage your efforts for radiant skin. Commit to a daily regimen that includes cleansing, moisturizing, and protection from the sun’s harmful rays. Consistency not only ensures that your skin regularly receives the care it needs but also allows for better tracking of any changes or improvements.

Hydration from Within

Your skin’s radiance is greatly influenced by your hydration levels. Drinking an ample amount of water helps to flush out toxins, which keeps your skin hydrated and plump. On top of this, incorporate hydrating foods into your diet, such as cucumbers, watermelon, and leafy greens, to provide your skin with essential nutrients.

Sun Protection

Protecting your skin from the sun’s damaging UV rays is crucial for maintaining a radiant complexion. Sun exposure causes premature aging, dark spots, and a dull complexion. Make sunscreen a non-negotiable part of your skincare routine, applying a broad-spectrum SPF of at least 30 every day, rain or shine.

Exfoliation

Regular exfoliation is the key to revealing the radiant skin hiding beneath the surface. Exfoliating removes dead skin cells, allowing fresh, healthy skin to emerge. However, it’s essential to exfoliate gently to avoid irritation and over-exfoliation, which can compromise the barrier of your skin. Opt for chemical exfoliants containing alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) or beta hydroxy acids (BHAs) for a gentle yet effective exfoliating experience.

Nourish with Antioxidants

Antioxidants have a vital role in protecting your skin from environmental stressors and free radical damage. Add antioxidant-rich skincare products into your routine, such as serums containing vitamin C or green tea extracts. These potent ingredients will help to brighten your complexion, reduce inflammation, and promote overall skin health.

Get Your Beauty Sleep

The term “beauty sleep” isn’t just a myth, it’s a crucial aspect of skincare. When you’re asleep, your body repairs and rejuvenates itself, including your skin. Aim for 7–9 hours of quality sleep every night to allow your skin ample time to regenerate. Invest in silk pillowcases to minimize friction and prevent creases and wrinkles.

Stress Management

Long-term stress can wreak havoc on your skin, leading to breakouts, inflammation, and a lackluster complexion. Incorporate stress-relieving practices into your daily routine, like yoga, meditation, or deep breathing exercises. Taking time to unwind not only benefits your mental health but also reflects positively on your skin.

Customize Your Routine

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to skincare. Pay attention to your skin’s unique needs and adjust your routine accordingly. Whether you’re dealing with acne, dryness, or hyperpigmentation, tailor your skincare regimen with targeted products and treatments to address specific concerns. If, for example, you have concerns about aging skin, then you might want to try a specialist collagen and peptide-rich cream from regenlabs.com to combat this.

Facial Massage

Incorporating facial massage techniques into your skincare routine can work wonders for promoting circulation, lymphatic drainage, and overall radiance. Use gentle upward strokes to massage your favorite facial oil or moisturizer into your skin, focusing on pressure points and areas of tension.

Seek Professional Advice

When in doubt, speak to a skincare professional. A dermatologist or esthetician can provide personalized recommendations based on your skin type, concerns, and goals. They can also offer professional treatments such as chemical peels, microdermabrasion, or laser therapy to enhance your skin’s radiance.

Achieving a radiant complexion requires dedication, patience, and a well-rounded approach to skincare. By following these expert tips and making skincare a priority, you can unlock the secrets to glowing, luminous skin that radiates confidence and beauty.

As we age, there are certain aspects of our looks that we can come to regret, especially those things like a tattoo that we’ve simply grown out of. But one of the biggest concerns for many of us as we get older is the fact that we don’t look like what we used to.

We can certainly worry about the passage of time, and this will have an effect on our perceptions of ourselves that we are getting wrinkly, old, gray, and weaker, and it can all feed into a certain sense of anxiety. We can all spend a stupid amount of time thinking about our appearance, but this preoccupation is completely understandable, however, what can we really do to stop feeling worried about our looks as we get older?

Acknowledge Your Concerns

If you feel that there’s something about your looks that you don’t like, rather than completely avoiding the issue, it’s better to acknowledge and confront the issue. There are so many people who are reluctant to admit that aging bothers them. You need to decide if your concerns are things you wish to resolve, and this means having an honest look at yourself and thinking about a time when you said to yourself, “I look old,” because this allows us to take ownership of our feelings about how we look, and only then can we make the changes.

If there’s someone in your life who is worried about graying hair or going bald and they are talking about hairline restoration as if it is the best thing to reclaim who they are, they need to first look at themselves and see if their changing looks have altered their identity. Because if you wager everything in life based on how you look, it might be worth peering beneath the surface and bringing your real self out of hiding.

Remove the Masks

Both physical and metaphorical. If you avoid behaviors that disconnect you from your true feelings about aging, you can start to embrace the key mindsets that we hear so much about but are afraid to embody: authenticity and vulnerability. These are hard because they require peeling away the layers of how we look. When we come out of hiding and do away with these behaviors and alterations that take us away from how we really feel and potentially look, naturally, we are going to learn how we genuinely feel about something.

Many people hate the fact that they’re getting older, but news flash: getting older is something that happens, like it or not. Many people think about aging as being a dirty word but look at the things that you are achieving as you get older. You become more settled in your skin, you start to not sweat the small stuff, and with every year that passes, you become wiser. Of course, it doesn’t hurt matters that actually how people look now in their 50s are totally different from people in the 1950s! We’re all living longer, we have access to amazing resources that help us to look after our health and stimulate those cells deep in our body that can, in many ways, be like the fountain of youth.

Something like fasting is an excellent example because it promotes what’s called autophagy, which is the internal cells’ spring-cleaning mechanisms. If we eat things that aren’t good for us like sugar and processed foods, we’ve got to think that it’s much like putting the wrong fuel in a car. It’s just not going to function as well, and it will die off sooner than we think! When we remove the masks associated with aging and we start to embrace our authentic selves, we end up stressing less, and this means we actually don’t age so quickly! So calm down and you will be doing yourself a world of good.

Challenge Your Internal Dialogue

We all can look in the mirror and immediately think of negative comments, but the more we do it turns it into a feedback loop. Negative self-talk is going to spiral out of control if we let it. We need to go back to the internal dialogue that is critical of our appearance and reframe these thoughts.

Because when we face down our fears, we’re going to experience a tidal wave of negative and hurtful comments that bellow from deep within our subconscious. If you look at yourself and think, “I look terrible, I look tired, get it fixed,” it’s time to stop these voices that get in the way. The reason you say these things is that they are representative of your innate fears, but we can take control and create new lines of dialogue that slowly over time replace those negative epithets.

Positive self-talk is something that we should all practice, especially when we are so worried about how old we look. The path to self-acceptance is about recognizing that you may feel a certain way now, and that there’s a number of different reasons contributing to this. What you think you believe is not what you should believe. If you are someone who doesn’t like how you look, you may not like yourself. And if you feel like this, it feeds into a lifetime of self-hatred that becomes difficult to unravel.

There are things that we can do to tackle this like counseling, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and other tactics, but if you can start with positive self-talk, it feels incredibly strange at the outset because our brains are programmed to display what we feed it if you now replace the negative things you think with positives and start small, you will see that over the months and years, your opinion of yourself will change a hell of a lot.

Reframe What You Think Beauty is

When we talk about beauty, a lot of us can think it’s just skin deep. We should surround ourselves with diverse representations of what true beauty is because this will broaden our perspective. If you are looking at a 20-year-old on Instagram, what is this teaching you? Absolutely nothing. It is far more beneficial for you to recognize that beauty is not just about one thing because we’ve now got to a time where everybody is now being judged based on their last social media post.

The biggest problem is that they’re all very similar and if you cannot see any similar qualities in yourself you start to think there is something wrong with you. Arguably one of the best things about social media is that over time the algorithm begins to reflect what you are looking for, so challenge your preconceptions of what you think is stereotypically beautiful because if you now make a concerted effort to broaden your horizons you will see that there is more to life than just what you see online.

People of a certain age know this but we’ve all become somewhat absorbed by social media and the time before the internet became ubiquitous in our lives we ended up hunting for something that reflected who we are rather than attempting to conform to what the algorithm tells us we’re supposed to be.

Work From the Inside Out

We cannot escape the fact that we are aging and while it may take time for us to come to peace with the concept of getting older, aging is a part of life’s journey, and we should embrace it gracefully with a positive mindset. Internal qualities improve with age but our physical qualities can also evolve alongside them.

Part of the reason we all fear aging is because it requires us to change certain aspects of ourselves and as humans, we don’t embrace change as much as we’d like. If you want to feel better about yourself as you get old you need to do the hard things. This could mean changing your diet because if you are consuming an abundance of ultra-processed foods you are fueling your body in the wrong ways. The same goes with things like stress which can be a major ager, if we worry about getting older and then look back on our lives 10 or 20 years from now and think that all we did was worry this wasted energy could have gone into something far more productive like embracing who we are.

We all experience brushes with mortality from time to time, and one extra gray hair or a wrinkle that wasn’t there a few weeks ago can send us into downward spirals in terms of our negative mindset. Feeling worried about our looks is ultimately a choice, but when you remember that it’s not just about how you look but about how you act, think, and feel, this total package that you present to the world could give you the right type of reinforcements.

We all want to look good but we also want to feel good. This is why sometimes we have to remember that worrying is not going to solve the problem. Instead, we need to take action and this could be about fixing certain aspects of how we look but it can also be as much to do with our attitudes towards ourselves.
