While most of us focus a lot on how to lose weight, keep it off, and feel better, we often don’t think about how to enjoy the results of our success.
If you’ve been working hard in the gym or running, doing Pilates or yoga, swimming, or doing other workouts and have lost weight and become more trim, taught, and terrific, you might like to think about ways to show off your svelte new figure and feel more confident as you go.
Bare Some Skin and Choose Form-Fitting Clothing
Now is a time when you can enjoy wearing more form-fitting clothes and baring some skin. Demonstrate your new curves and toned zones by putting on clothing that molds to your body to show just how much weight you’ve lost, or wear pieces that comfortably show more of you.
For instance, have fun wearing cute crop tops that showcase your abs or classic women’s shorts that highlight your toned legs. You might like to wear above-the-knee skirts, too, along with dresses with little spaghetti straps or that are strapless or have cut-outs to show your defined back, strong arms, toned legs, and more.
Test Out New Clothing Styles
Most of us wear the same outfit types for many years, especially if we don’t feel good about our bodies and looks. If you’re in this boat but have recently lost a lot of weight, you might like to celebrate by testing out a raft of new clothing styles that you weren’t game or interested in trialing in the past. Find a new style or see if styles you thought you couldn’t wear now look lovely.
For example, you might like to go shopping for body-con dresses, halter-neck tops, skinny jeans, jeggings, off-the-shoulder blouses, short shorts, or other designs you previously thought were “off the table.” You might surprise yourself with how much you enjoy wearing new styles on your new body.
Have Some Fun with Trends
Similarly, now that you’re feeling more confident, you should go out and have some fun playing with the latest fashion trends. If you haven’t done this in the past because you didn’t think you could rock whatever designs were having an impact at the time, you’re sure to enjoy feeling freer to test the waters in anything popular right now.
You might like to test current fashion trends such as cargo pants, sheer pieces, reimagined denim, metallic materials, clothing in bright, bold blues and reds, and more.
Invest in Sexy Lingerie
Like many women, you may have felt self-conscious about strutting around in sexy lingerie or wearing other barely-there, cheeky outfits for yourself and your significant other in the past. Having lost weight now, though, you should treat yourself to some sexy lingerie that you can look and feel good in, not just for someone else, but for yourself.
Have a little splurge on matching bra and knicker sets that make you feel confident, as well as garter belts, slinky nighties, and other pieces you can feel confident wearing inside the bedroom or elsewhere.
Wear Belts More
One idea you might not have considered yet when re-evaluating your wardrobe after losing weight is wearing belts more. You can utilize these handy accessories to showcase your smaller waist by cinching you in and bringing more definition to this area of your body. While loose outfits won’t show off how hard you’ve worked at the gym and beyond, belting up a flowy dress, skirt, and the like will. Belts can be worn proudly on dresses, skirts, jeans, shorts, trousers, and other ensembles.
Take Advantage of Tailoring
Lastly, after losing a significant amount of weight, you may find that most of your clothes don’t fit or that you’re in between sizes when shopping for new pieces. If so, it’s wise to hire an experienced tailor to tweak clothing as needed and thus show off your assets better.
This might feel excessive or expensive, but remember that all the celebrities we admire for their looks on red carpets and elsewhere wear goods that fit them perfectly and regularly use quality tailors to achieve this perfection. You may not have their income level, but you’re likely to be surprised by how affordable good alterations can be, as well as how much of a difference they make to your overall look once the adjustments have been made.
Losing weight can improve your life in many ways, such as giving you more energy and keeping you fitter, stronger, and generally healthier. However, the self-esteem improvements that come with it are often one of the biggest positives many people enjoy. Make the most of this time by updating your wardrobe and flaunting your new figure whenever and however you can.
