I was catching up on some of the feeds in my Bloglines when I fell upon “Are You A Beauty” blog. Last week she posted about one of her favorite blogger’s who posted about the appropriateness of a mini dress. I clicked on the link to see what all the fuss was about and found the following…
My friend, who after noticing my tattoo on my left ankle, asked if I would ever get my belly-button pierced. I responded with โwhy would it matter?โ I am too old to pull off midriff tops.โ His response was โYouโre too old?โ And I thought to myself at the same timeโ โoh my godโ did I just say that I am too old for something?!โ I have friends who started in their mid-twenties saying that they were too old to do certain things. I could never relate (and still generally canโt). I am of the philosophy that, with all these medical advances, I will most probably have my 70s, 80s and 90s to feel oldโ I am definitely not spending my 20s and now my 30s feeling and acting old. So I responded with โno, not oldโ midriff tops just donโt really fit into my personal style anymore.โ
I thought about the conversation when I was out shopping and saw all the cute mini dresses that are out right now. The whole โam I too old to pull of a mini?โ thought went through my mind. After I tried some on I realized that I am definitely not too old to wear a miniโ and I am not sure anyone is. All of these dresses would look good with bare legs, but if that is not your personal style, they would look equally good over tights, leggings, jeans, slim pants or straight leg pants. [more…]
I had to wonder… Do you think there is a certain cut-off point where women are too old to wear certain things? What are your thoughts on this?
