When it comes to hair removal methods on our legs, most of us stick to shaving. But a growing number of women (and men) are switching to waxing or laser hair removal. Just which is the best solution for keeping those legs soft and smooth? This post compares shaving, waxing and laser hair removal to help you find the best option for you.

Shaving

Shaving legs became common in the 1920s as shorter dresses became more common, and by the 1950s shaving was the norm. To this day, it remains the most popular way to remove hair from our legs and armpits. Most of us shave in the bath or shower – on average, about once per week.

How much does it cost?

Shaving is very cheap. You can buy a decent women’s razor for just over $3 (if you prefer a brand like Gilette, you’re looking at over $8). Shaving cream costs between $1 and $6. You’re supposed to change your razor/blades every 5 to 10 shaves. Therefore, if you’re shaving twice per week, you can expect to pay somewhere upwards of $60 per year on shaving your legs.

How long does it take?

If you’re shaving regularly, it will likely take you 5 to 10 minutes to shave your legs. Leave it longer between shaves, and you may spend 20 minutes shaving your legs. Some studies suggest that the average woman spends 72 days of their life shaving their legs.

How long does it last?

Shaving doesn’t last long. Most of us can expect our legs to be prickly again after three days. To stop legs becoming too hairy, you should shave twice per week. Some women shave every day to maintain constantly smooth legs. Those who are not too concerned may only shave twice per month.

Any pain or side effects?

The biggest pro to shaving is that it’s completely painless. You may give yourself the odd nick now and again, and razor burn can occur from not replacing your razor regularly enough. However, shaving generally doesn’t cause much irritation if you’re using plenty of shaving foam and a clean newish razor.

Waxing

Waxing became popular in the 60s. This is when the first waxing strips were introduced, allowing women to wax their legs at home themselves. Professional waxing has been around a while and is still viewed as the most effective option if you want to remove all the hairs quickly and effectively.

How much does it cost?

A pack of 24 waxing strips can be bought for about $10. If you’re waxing your legs every 3 weeks, and you’re using a new pack every second time, you can therefore expect to spend $90 on waxing strips in a year. Of course, if you’re able to use less strips (most waxing strips are reusable) and are willing to wax less often, you may only need to buy 4 pack of waxing strips in a year, totalling about $40 (less than you’ll spend on shaving in a year). A professional full leg wax can cost anywhere from $15 to $50 per session.

How long does it take?

Waxing is able to remove huge amounts of hair quickly, but it does take time to apply each waxing strip properly. Whether you’re doing it at home or paying a professional, you can expect it to take 20 t0 30 minutes to wax both legs.

How long does it last?

When you wax your legs, you pull the hair out at the root. When done properly, you should not see regrowth for 3 to 6 weeks. This means that you may only have to wax your legs between 8 and 17 times in a year. That is a lot of time saved spent shaving. A professional esthetician may be able to encourage longer lasting results.

Any pain or side effects?

Unfortunately, waxing is painful. A professional esthetician may be able to reduce this pain, but in most cases it will still sting every time a strip is removed. Some people experience bleeding or redness after getting their legs waxed, while follicle infections and ingrown hairs can also be a side effect. Getting your legs professionally waxed will likely minimize these complications.

Laser hair removal

Laser hair removal only became commercially available in the 90s. It involves using a focused beam of light to not just destroy the hair, but also damage the follicle. Hand-held IPL devices can be used at home, but generally don’t use as strong a laser as used by a clinic or med spa.

How much does it cost?

A laser hair removal session can cost anywhere from $100 to $800 depending on the area of hair you want to remove. When it comes to removing hair from legs, you can expect upwards of $300. Home IPL devices cost upwards of $200.

How long does it take?

To target every hair follicle on your legs, you can expect a session to take upwards of 30 minutes – often over an hour. Some people just focus on their lower legs, which can save you time and money.

How long does it last?

Laser hair removal has the potential to be permanent. However, for most people, hair growth returns in 6 to 8 weeks. Repeated sessions can often help increase the time it takes hair to regrow. Eventually, some people find that hair doesn’t grow back for years. This could mean not more time spent shaving or waxing!

Any pain or side effects?

Laser hair removal can produce some discomfort, but is generally perceived to be a lot less painful than waxing. Your legs are likely to be quite red and sensitive for a day after (think mild sunburn!). However, you shouldn’t expect pain to last much longer than this. Those with sensitive skin may experience adverse effects like blistering and scarring, but this is rare.

Which should you choose?

If you want a pain-free and convenient option, it’s best to stick with shaving. Shaving costs less upfront and is quicker each time, plus there are few unwanted side effects unless you’re shaving with an old unclean razor.

Waxing is a longer-lasting option that could save you money in the long run. If you don’t mind the pain, it’s worth it for the reduced time spent shaving.

As for laser hair removal, this could be the solution to choose if you’re willing to invest some money into a more long-term removal. It’s ideal for those who want permanently smooth legs, but are done with the hassle of frequently shaving them.

Choosing the right hair removal treatment for you depends more on your budget and comfort level than anything else!

If you love your makeup and spend half an hour every morning making sure it’s just right, then you’re going to love this article. I’ve been using makeup for years, and throughout that time, I’ve learned a lot about enhancing my look with eyebrows. This article will provide you with some tips and tricks on grooming your eyebrows that apply regardless of whether you’re at home or the salon. Once that’s done, we’ll talk about what kind of devices are available for taking care of them on your own in your spare time.

Prepare the tools needed, safety razors and a brow comb

Eyebrows are an essential part of your face that can be used to make you look more beautiful. The eyebrows define your whole look and complete your features. Some people have a natural beauty while others do not. If you are one of those who do not, you might want to enhance their eyebrows by using the right tools and products. For help finding the right tools, Lumen Beaute is a great place to start!

Taming them is essential as well. You can shape your brows as you want without worrying about them growing back to their original state. It would only take a few minutes for you to groom your eyebrows using the right tools and products. Here are the steps on how to do it:

Prepare the tools needed for eyebrow grooming.

Brow comb: You need a comb with a handle. You can use this tool to tame stray hairs or even remove them if they bother you that much. Just remember that you should never pluck them out because they will grow back thicker and darker than before.

Waterproof mascara: Waterproof mascara will prevent your brows from smudging when applied. It is also better than clear mascara because it has colour, so it will help fill in any bare spots on your brows.

Safety razor: Safety razors are ideal for growing out thick eyebrows since they would not give you cuts during

Understand the eyebrow shape you have

Eyebrows are the most important facial feature that you should take care of. The shape and length of your eyebrows are what frames the face and give it expression. When people look at you, they see your eyebrows before they see any other feature on you. Eyebrows are one of the first things people notice about you, especially when you don’t have any makeup on.

Tapered eyebrows have a visible tail that trails off to a point. This shape best suits round faces because it narrows the face and draws attention to the eyes. They are best suited for both oval and round-shaped faces.

Thick eyebrows are natural-looking but can sometimes be too bold and dark for some people’s liking. These types of eyebrows suit both heart-shaped and square faces.

Straight eyebrows have a uniform thickness throughout their length, with a defined endpoint. Straight eyebrows tend to suit long or oval faces better than rounder ones.

Protruding eyebrows are wider at the base and taper upwards towards the tips. They suit all face shapes. However, if your face is very short or long, it may not suit your face shape. Avoid this type of eyebrow if this applies to you.

How to trim and shape your brows

There are many ways to trim your eyebrows:

1. The first and most crucial step is to decide what shape you want your eyebrows to be. Do you want them arched? Straight across? Almond-shaped?

2. If you are using a razor, shave off any unwanted hair.

3. You can also use tweezers or wax to remove unwanted hair. This method is recommended for people who have not used either of these before and are still learning the best way to shape their eyebrows. (This is also the cheapest way.)

4. Use an eyebrow pencil or powder to fill in any gaps between your eyebrow hairs.

5. Use an eyebrow brush or spoolie to brush out any visible brow hairs if you have used powder or a pencil on them.

6. Using a pair of scissors, cut your eyebrows so that they are even and at the desired angle/length (this may take some practice).

7. Using makeup, fill in any gaps between the brows with brow powder, gel, or pencils.

8. Use an eyebrow brush or spoolie again to brush out any visible brow hairs if you have used powder or a pencil on them again.

For some people, leaving their hair to grow as nature sees it fit is their method of grooming and feeling warm. To others, overgrown hair is a nuisance, and they can’t wait for their next removal session. If you fall in the second category, you understand how difficult it can be to find the best hair removal method.

Finding the right method can drain you down the line as it involves momentary pain and accidental bloody knees. But if you find the best solution, it will yield a blissful result. Here are the best-ranking hair removal methods that are available all over the globe.

1. Sugaring Hair Removal Method

Sugaring is gaining popularity, thanks to its long-term effects and sustainable potential. It contains lemon juice, sugar, and water. Sugaring can be the best hair removal method, but only if you apply it properly.

The good thing with sugaring is that you can apply it anywhere in your body. It’s also suitable for all skin tones and skin types. It’s the best bet for anybody who is starting off to remove hair, especially young people.

Sugaring will not only remove the hair but will also reduce regrowth from there henceforth. So if you want to remove unwanted hair gently, then sugaring is the way to go.

To remove your hair through sugaring, contact your local specialist experienced in carrying out effective hair removal.

You can also use the DIY method to sugar. All you need is an at-home sugar wax recipe. This includes one cup of white sugar, 1/8 cup warm water, and 1/8 cup lemon juice.

As mentioned, sugaring isn’t only for hair removal. It also stunts hair regrowth over time.

If you decide to go the sugaring way, keep it four to five weeks apart. Then, wait 24 hours after treatment before going out in the sun or doing any strenuous activity.

2. Shaving

Cheap, easy, and quick to use are reasons why shaving is considered the best hair removal. So long as you mind the sharp blades, everything is just a matter of minutes.

You can perform shaving in any part of your body, but you still need to consider things like the part you’re shaving. For example, use long, clean strokes for legs. You also need to apply a moisturizer before it dries out.

It’s also the best hair removal for private parts. This is because private parts are naturally moist, making the hair removal to be simple. Given that the skin is more flexible, you should move the razor in separate directions to meet different hair directions.

Also, to shave more intimate parts, pull the skin taut for a cleaner shave to enable your pubic hair to regrow smoothly. Using the razor to shave is much more than just running a razor on your skin.

Make sure you use a fresh blade to shave, then dispose of it after ten uses. When shaving, your razor should move in the direction of hair growth, then pull taut in areas where the skin isn’t firm. Don’t push down your hair but use a light touch?

Before shaving, soak your hair for a few minutes, then aftershave, apply a shave gel instead of skin-drying soap. Note that hair becomes easier to cut when softened in warm water for some minutes. Ensure the hair is nourished and hydrated before running a razor in it.

Shaving doesn’t take long, and it depends on an individual skin pattern. For example, dry shaving will only take 24 hours, while wet shaving can yield better results between one to three days.

Also, to shave more intimate parts, pull the skin taut for a cleaner shave to enable your pubic hair to regrow smoothly.

3. Best Hair Removal Through Waxing

Hair removal wax comes with serious temporary damages, especially to the eyebrow. It can cause major skin damage for that short time after waxing. It also removes the top layer of your skin every time you apply it.

It’s suitable on the body but too rough on the eyebrow. To bring a full look and natural eyebrow, allow an esthetician to carry out waxing.

If you have underlying problems such as rosacea and inflammatory skin disorders such as psoriasis and eczema, avoid waxing. Despite weakening hair growth, it accelerates hair growth during the first three to six months. This leads to hyperpigmentation due to more waxing.

Apart from the eyebrow setback, waxing boasts many benefits. Only eyelashes and head hair have the problem with waxing. Other parts of the body, such as legs and hands, work well with waxing.

To do waxing, you need the services of an expert, especially if you want to wax more sensitive areas.

4. Use Best Hair Removal Creams

Hair removal creams are a bit messy, so the best place to apply them is in the bathroom. There is no risk of bloodshed, making it a simple and cost-effective hair removal method. Make sure you read the label first before applying.

Hair removal creams can provide permanent solutions by dissolving the hair at the skin level. This is because when you apply creams, the hair remains in the follicle then burns away evenly. This reduces the chances of ingrown hair.

The main setback of removal creams is the chemical burns, thanks to their high alkaline nature. Ensure you read the label because if you leave the product for longer than directed in the packaging, you’ll experience a burn.

Removal creams are also the best solution for permanent hair removal. In addition, you can use creams to remove hair from large and trickier areas and hard-to-reach places. The method is suitable for people who are removing hair for the first time.

5. Tweezing Treatments

Whether you’re neatening your eyebrows or any unruly hairs, your beauty makeover shouldn’t miss a tweezer. Tweezing is the best way to maintain both your brows and pesky hairs because it handles one hair at a time. However, it’s not a perfect bet when it comes to removing hair from legs and underarms.

You can also have a tweezer after waxing or shaving to help you remove the remaining stubborn hair.

Get Rid Of Unwanted Hair the Right Way

If you’re one of those people who don’t like hair on any body parts, you should find the best hair removal method. There are many methods available, and all you need to do is find one that suits you. Also, understand that the method you use on your legs may not work in your pubic parts.

Brazilian IPL is the secret when women receive compliments on their creamy, butter-soft skins. It seemed unfair when we had to subject our tender, gorgeous, and supple skins to harsh methods to remove unwanted hair before convenient methods emerged.

Surely, there could be a much better and less damaging way to do it? Yes, now there is, and we call it the Brazilian IPL hair removal treatment at home. For years, women have opted for Brazilian hair removal processes. They generally relied on waxes, razor electrolysis, depilatory creams, and epilators in the earlier days. Now, Brazilian hair removal typically refers to IPL treatment.

What Is Brazilian IPL?

IPLstands for Intense Pulsed Light. Although it is wrong to classify it as a laser hair removal treatment, IPL also uses light energy to remove unwanted hair from parts of your body and face.

IPL, too, underwent a series of clinical trials with resounding success and is now as famous as laser for hair removal treatments. It employs the best technology to render safe, comfortable, and effective services for users at home. You can now find a large variety of Brazilian IPL devices that promise long-term and cost-friendly professional hair removal right at home.

If you seek a protocol comparison, then IPL is similar to laser in this regard. You will need to undergo at least six to eight treatment sessions at home, each with an interval of four to six weeks. Only then will you begin to see a significant reduction in the growth of hair.

With incredible innovations as always in technology, many IPL devices are available in the stores for your personal use. You may find the purchase of a device somewhat pricey initially, but the effectiveness and cost-efficiency will be incredible and greater than salon treatments in the long run.

With that said, here are some tips to help treat you to Brazilian IPL hair removal sessions at home:

  • Caffeine tends to make certain skin types even more sensitive after use. Avoid consuming or using any caffeinated products before your IPL session at home.
  • IPL treatments are slightly discomforting, so you may take a mild pain killer before the treatment if you have particularly low pain tolerance.
  • If you plan to shave for an effective and safe result, we recommend shaving a day or night before you use the device and not on the same day.
  • Also, do not exfoliate the area you plan to treat with the IPL hair removal device.
  • Once you have completed the treatment, do not use any shaving products or scented creams on that area.

Final Thoughts

Brazilian IPL treatments at home are a safe alternative to the salon and clinic treatments. There is not much difference in the results’ effectiveness and a further minimized risk of infections. The home treatments ensure you save precious time and money compared to professional treatment sessions.

Users worldwide claimed to have experienced satisfactory and long-lasting results with their IPL device at home. You can opt for this method, too, as all devices are scientifically tested and proven to remove unwanted hair safely.

Did you know that hair removal, or laser hair removal, was experimentally practiced for about 20 years before being marketed as a laser hair removal service in the 1990s? Phototricholysis, or better known as photo epilation, is light and laser-based and is now available in various cosmetic clinics worldwide the laser hair removal cost is going down every year. The dermatology industry has positively rated the laser hair removal method for its effectiveness, success, long-lasting effects, and safety in removing unnecessary hair.

The ultimate laser removal process is called Selective Photothermolysis (SPTL), the main principle of removing hair from the roots of the skin. The laser specifically targets the melanin in your skin. When done by a licensed doctor, it shows controlled damage by integrating and selectively heating the areas of your body where hair growth is supposed to stop entirely. Leave the rest. Of hair growth does not burn or bump in any way—your skin. Your skin’s chromophore, known as your skin’s dark matter, can absorb laser light with the required intensity and speed, which ultimately leads to hair removal. Looking for the laser hair removal cost https://www.bestadvisor.com/how-to/how-to-choose-which-hair-removal-method-works-for-me-best

Regardless of your gender, whether you are male or female, laser hair removal can help you remove unwanted hair from your body for a long time. This hair removal system is usually performed on the chin, forearm, lip, shoulder, abdomen, earlobe, buttocks, pubic area, bikini areas and thighs, face, hands, toes, neck, chest, arms, legs, and cleavage. Despite the fact that the laser is more effective on both light and dark-haired skin types, you’ll be happy to know that laser technology has introduced new lasers that clearly match when dark black hair and dark skin show your needs. The laser hair removal cost is going down as the procedure becomes more popular.

“Permanent hair removal,” exactly the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) term named laser hair removal in 1997. Many people have well received this hair removal procedure because of its effectiveness and long results. While many have claimed that laser hair removal can remove excess hair in your body, a session’s outcome can vary based on several factors, including the laser technician’s experience and skills in using laser equipment. The type of laser technology you have chosen and, of course, the laser hair removal cost as well as the location of where the procedure will take place.

You should also be ready to return to touch-ups, even if you’ve already completed the main set, which usually includes three to ten treatments, especially if the laser removal procedure is to be performed on large areas of your body. It is useful to note that the hair removal sessions you need to perform depend on several parameters, including your hair’s roughness, complexion, the part of the body being treated, and your complexion.

When an inexperienced doctor does laser hair removal, burns, skin discoloration, and skin problems like hypopigmentation, acne, purpura, scabbing can occur, so it is important to get it yourself a reputable clinic as well as check out the 5 things you must do before laser hair removal.
